JTR Reveal

JTR Reveal

The JTR Reveal is a desktop diamond verification instrument for loose and mounted stones designed to separate natural diamonds from synthetic diamonds. The Reveal is manually operated and requires the user to interpret color images of the stones under fluorescence and phosphorescence. Images are displayed on a connected monitor (not included). The Reveal comes with large capacity trays for both loose stones and jewelry.

Instrument Performance

Key performance metrics measured for the JTR Reveal with the ASSURE 2.0 Primary Loose Stone Sample:

Diamond False Positive Rate (optimal rate 0%): 0%
Diamond Referral Rate (optimal rate 0%): 10.5%
Diamond Accuracy Rate (optimal rate 100%): 89.5%

The Primary Loose Stone Sample was tested three times and consists of 350 loose diamonds, and 100 loose synthetic diamonds. The stones are 0.03 ct to 0.20 ct in D-J colour.

Key performance metrics measured for the JTR Reveal with the ASSURE 2.0 Smalls Loose Stone Sample:

Diamond False Positive Rate (optimal rate 0%): 0%
Diamond Referral Rate (optimal rate 0%): 11.7%
Diamond Accuracy Rate (optimal rate 100%): 88.3%

The Smalls Loose Stone Sample was tested three times and consists of 350 loose diamonds, and 100 loose synthetic diamonds. The stones are 0.005 ct to 0.02 ct in D-J colour.

The measured test speed for the JTR Reveal was 371 stones per hour.

Key performance metrics measured for the JTR Reveal with the ASSURE 2.0 Primary Mounted Stone Sample:

Diamond False Positive Rate (optimal rate 0%): 0%
Diamond Referral Rate (optimal rate 0%): 7.4%
Diamond Accuracy Rate (optimal rate 100%): 92.6%

The Primary Mounted Stone Sample consists of jewelry pieces with open-back settings containing a total of 303 stones. The stones are a mix of diamonds, laboratory grown diamonds and diamond simulants in the D-J colour range and have a minimum girdle diameter of 2.0 mm.

The JTR Reveal provides four views of the diamonds on the tray; i)Day light, ii) Fluorescence, iii) Phosphorescence, and iv) Result. The Result view will automatically identify some of the synthetic diamonds with a red dot. The remaining stones need to be visually interpreted by the operator based on the color characteristics of the stones under Fluorescence and Phosphorescence. An interpretation key with reference colors is provided on the monitor to assist with identification. Based on the images, the operator can conclude one of the following results:
i) Diamond
ii) Refer

When placing the loose stones on the tray, the culet was oriented in the up position. For jewelry testing, care was taken to orient the stones at a common height above the tray in order to achieve the sharpest possible focus. The JTR Reveal has several analysis modes; the Detailed Analysis mode was used for all ASSURE testing.
