The 2024 Venice Film Festival Brings Natural Diamond Jewelry to the Next Level

The 2024 Venice Film Festival has kicked off, delivering all the diamond-studded glitz and glamour we’ve come to expect from the red carpet event. Conjuring the decadence of Old Hollywood, cinema’s most-wanted performers and directors have gathered in the Italian city to celebrate this year’s most exciting projects, decked out in diamonds. 

The 81^st annual Venice Film Festival will take place from August 28 to September 7, and will debut a robust roster of highly anticipated films. Day one of the festival hosted the premiere of Tim Burton’s spooky sequel to Beetlejuice, appropriately entitled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, starring Jenna Ortega. The actress conquered the red carpet in thorn-like natural diamond jewels from Dior Joaillerie. In her new biopic Maria, Angelina Jolie portrays the opera singer, Maria Callas. Before receiving an eight-minute standing ovation for her performance, Jolie twinkled down the red carpet in Cartier jewels previously owned by her real-life character.

Nicole Kidman’s new movie Babygirl will premiere at the prestigious event, along with Lady Gaga’s Joker: Folie à Deux. Sienna Miller is also is set to arrive in support of her film Horizon Chapter 2.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman arrived in Venice for the premiere of her new film Babygirl, wearing a black Bottega Veneta dress with Roberto Coin’s Venetian Princess black jade and natural diamond drop earrings, styled by Jason Bolden. Later, she stepped out on the red carpet in a Schiaparelli gown and a dazzling display of diamond rings, also from Roberto Coin.

Camila Mendes

Camila Mendes took the classic route at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, wearing a one-shoulder Armani Privè gown and natural diamond Bulgari jewels, styled by Molly Dickson.

Ncuti Gatwa

Styled by Felicity Kay, Doctor Who actor Ncuti Gatwa arrived at the Venice premiere of Babygirl, wearing a slouchy black silk ensemble and one sculptural diamond earring from Messika, featuring two thin pavé overlapping bars with a pear-shape diamond dangling from its end.

Lili Reinhart

Lili Reinhart attended the festival wearing a midnight blue velvet Armani Privé gown with classic Chopard white gold earrings featuring 14.74 carats worth of natural diamonds and a diamond ring, both from the jeweler’s Haute Joaillerie collection.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie touched down in Venice to celebrate the premiere of her Pablo Larraín-directed Maria. She arrived at Hotel Excelsior’s docks, waving to on-lookers and showing off a sparkling button-back diamond ring with a gold band. 

Later, Jolie stepped out on the red carpet in a custom Tamara Ralph gown, Trinity de Cartier and C de Cartier diamond stud earrings, with a gold and diamond Cartier Collection Maillon Panthère twisted interwoven bracelet and matching ring. Pinned to her furry shawl, Jolie wore a 1972 gold Cartier Collection Open-and-shut Rose clip brooch with emeralds, sapphires, rubies, and natural diamonds inside the bloom. Historical jewelry from the Cartier collection will star alongside Jolie in the highly anticipated Maria Callas biopic. 

“It was very moving to be wearing a piece of Cartier jewelry she wore and owned. I chose to wear it for a very important scene where she is with her sister and facing many hard truths,” Jolie said in a press release. “To have jewelry of such a high quality on camera felt special and right for Maria. She was such an elegant lady” In the new motion picture, Jolie even wears the same Rose Clip brooch she wore to the premiere. 

Taylor Russell

Taylor Russel glistened at the red carpet premiere of Maria, wearing a strapless cream-colored Loewe gown with a shawl draped around her neck and resplendent Tiffany & Co. jewelry. The actress wore a natural diamond pendant necklace worn backward, featuring an 11-carat pear-shape diamond sitting between her shoulders.  She teamed her look with hefty diamond Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany star flower ear clips in platinum and 18k yellow gold, a dazzling diamond, sapphire, and rubellite bracelet featuring two koi fish joined together, with a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Two Bees engagement ring in platinum and 18k gold. 

Cate Blanchett

The star of Alfonso Cuarón’s Disclaimer, Cate Blanchett attended the Venice Film Festival in a black velvet Armani Privé suit, draped with pearls in the back, styled by Elizabeth Stewart. She paired her ensemble with a Louis Vuitton diamond ear cuff by Francesca Amfitheatrof. The piece wrapped all the way around her ear, with two large champagne-colored pearls dangling from the bottom.

Jenna Ortega

Jenna Ortega channeled Winona Ryder’s original Beetlejuice character, Lydia Deetz with a red tulle Dior Haute Couture gown and diamonds from Dior Joaillerie, styled by Enrique Melendez. Her thorn-like diamond Bois de Rose necklace glistened on the red carpet, along with her matching diamond bracelet and rings. 

Justin Theroux

Styled by Chloe Hartstein, Justin Theroux arrived in a custom Zegna suit by Alessandro Sartori with the iconic Tiffany & Co. Bird on a Rock natural diamond brooch for the premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. 

Taylor Russell

Taylor Russell walked the red carpet in a vintage Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1993 gown, perfectly paired with large Tiffany & Co. diamond cluster earrings. In her second ear piercing, the actress wore diamond and pearl drop earrings with an Elsa Peretti white enamel bone cuff on her wrist, and a sparkling diamond cocktail ring, styled by Jahleel Weaver.

Isabelle Huppert

This year’s Jury President, Isabelle Huppert turned up the heat in Venice. Her fire engine red Balenciaga opera coat dress, white opera gloves, and sleek black sunglasses only acted as the canvas for her dazzling Cartier diamond jewelry. Styled by Jonathan Huguet, the French actress shined bright in long diamond three-row dangling earrings, a large swirling diamond cocktail ring, and two huge matching diamond TuttiTutti cuff bracelets from the latest Cartier Libre assortment. 

Poppy Delevingne

Model Poppy Delevingne stepped out in a chic black Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini suit for the 2024 Venice Film Festival, teamed with natural diamond Boucheron feather drop earrings that stole the show.
