Ana Khouri’s Diamond Phillipa Ear Cuff Is a Celebrity Favorite

Ana Khouri, are your ears ringing? The jewelry designer on everyone’s lips has been blinging up everyone’s ears. Since opening her atelier and launching her eponymous line in 2013, Ana Khouri has garnered a reputation for her avant-garde high jewelry and top-tier celebrity clientele. Her architectural diamond ear cuffs have remained a staple of Khouri’s meticulously crafted high jewelry assortment, specifically the Phillipa Ear Cuff. 

“My first Phillipa Ear Cuff was designed in 2018,” Khouri tells Only Natural Diamonds. “I had created a sculpture with the same shape that I kept at my home. Every day, I looked at it and thought it would be an interesting piece of jewelry.  I made an ear cuff [with the same silhouette] and wore it all the time. With so many people asking about it, I then produced it.” 

Khouri’s thriving career in jewelry could be described as serendipitous. She designed a few jewels while still studying sculpture in her native São Paulo. Before she graduated, luxury boutiques in the area began carrying her work, catapulting her into the realm of jewelry. Earning a degree from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Khouri went on to study jewelry design at London’s esteemed Central Saint Martins and Parsons in New York.

With her sculptural vision in mind, the Brazilian-born, New York-based jeweler kicked off her career with limited-edition items in 2002, merging angular Art Deco motifs with natural diamonds and precious gems “I don’t start with the typical process of sketching,” she says of her creative process. “All of my work begins as sculpture. I work through the piece, finding the shape and form that feels complete and then that’s translated into the jewelry.”

Khouri’s Phillipa Ear Cuff has stood out as a fan favorite amongst our most beloved stars, worn by everyone from Nicole Kidman, Hailey Bieber, Tracee Ellis Ross, Florence Pugh, Margot Robbie, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, and more. But the Phillipa shined its brightest on one person in particular. “More than any celebrity, I remember the first time my grandmother wore hers,” Khouri explains. “It was such a special moment for me as she is so classic and so chic. She has always been an inspiration for me.”

Working with natural diamonds, Khouri says, “I grew up spending all of my time outdoors and that’s where I feel most at home. I have a deep connection to the natural world and working with natural diamonds extends that connection; that the earth can create something so precious, rare and beautiful, it’s a privilege to work with such incredible stones.” She explains, “We have a true responsibility as artists and jewelers to work only with ethical and sustainably sourced stones and materials.”

The chunky diamond-encrusted donut-like sphere effortlessly wraps around the outer ear for an impactful jewelry statement, rendered exclusively in Fairmined gold. Versatile in nature, the Phillipa Ear Cuff can be worn in a myriad of ways. Jennifer Lawrence and Alexandra Daddario have worn them solo, letting the earpiece speak for itself. Olivia Wilde, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Maya Rudolph have all stacked multiple cuffs on one ear. “I love to see my creations worn,” says Khouri. “I find it so interesting to see how each person adds her character and style to this one design, making it her own while also creating a connection with me and my work.”

It’s Cuffing Season

Margot Robbie

On the heels of her promotional tour for Barbie, Margot Robbie attended Variety’s Power of Women event, emanating a more subdued glamour than we had seen from her in months. Styled by Andrew Mukamal, the actress kept it simple in an off-the-shoulder Fendi dress, which allowed her Ana Khouri ear cuff to shine all the more. Robbie wore a Phillipa earpiece with a 5.46-carat green tourmaline gem which dangled from 3.2 carats worth of white diamonds wrapping around her ear. 

Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber let her jewelry do the talking at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar After Party. Styled by Karla Welch, Bieber wore a sleek black custom Saint Laurent creation, which acted as a canvas for her exclusive Phillipa ear cuff with two cuffs, totaling 3.20 carats of pavé diamonds and one dangling 1.78-carat pear-shaped diamond. The style was put on display at both the 2022 and the 2024 TEFAF Art Fair. 

Emily Ratajkowski

Emily Ratajkowski arrived at the 2023 Met Gala, wearing a tulle Tory Burch gown, teamed with multiple Anna Khouri Phillipa natural diamond earpieces. On one ear, she stacked two pavé cuffs, and on the other, an ear cuff with not one, but two dangling pear-shaped diamonds, totaling seven carats. 

Khouri says of Ratajkowski’s Met Gala jewels, “I wanted to create a real reflection and brightness around the eyes and on the upper part of her face.” She explains, “The eyes are where we focus and connect when we interact with people. I like the idea of bringing the diamond a bit up, making that journey shorter.” 

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence walked the red carpet at the London premiere of her film No Hard Feelings in an embellished black Dior gown with an assortment of sparkling diamond Anita Ko huggie hoop earrings and a statement-making Ana Khouri Phillipa pavé diamond ear cuff, totaling 3 carats, set in 18-karat Fairmined Gold.

Styled by Jamie Mizrahi, Lawrence added the impactful piece to an otherwise dainty earscape, much like Charlize Theron did at the Fast X film premiere at the Roman Colosseum in May 2023. 

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

For the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley teamed her Fendi Couture gown with two stacked 3-carat diamond Phillipa Ear Cuffs in 18-karat Fairmined gold.
