No Pagne, No Gain: Harwell Godfrey & Ashley Longshore Team Up For Limited Edition Diamond Cocktail Ring
What happens when an award-winning jewelry designer and a renowned artist collaborate? Champagne is popped and turned into wearable natural diamond art, of course. Fine jewelry designer Lauren Harwell Godfrey and fun-loving pop artist Ashley Longshore have teamed up to create a limited edition cocktail ring, appropriately titled “Press for Champagne” which has just launched at Longshore’s NYC gallery.
Made with 18k gold, the ring features a single 0.7-carat champagne diamond button at the center, which can actually be pressed. Whether the champagne accompanies, that’s up to you. Three circular rings of white diamond pavé around the entire jewel. On the back, the piece features engraved logos for both Godfrey and Longshore, as well as the phrase, “No pagne, no gain” — one of Longshore’s signature phrases. Godfrey added, “That’s become my new mantra, “No Pagne No Gain.”
Godfrey and Longshore have a lot in common, which made this collaboration so special. Both, for starters, are avid natural diamond lovers. Aside from painting iconic women wearing natural diamond jewelry such as Elizabeth Taylor and Lady Gaga in the iconic Tiffany & Co. 128.54-carat yellow diamond necklace she wore to the 2019 Oscars, Longshore has a vast collection of rare natural diamond jewelry, some pieces that she even designed herself. Longshore told OND, “I wanted something very particular—I love Art Deco, and those old mine-cut diamonds. I work with a lady over in Antwerp. I send her sketches and inspiration images, and she finds the stones and color matches them and sends me videos.”

For Godfrey, designing responsible jewelry is her speciality. In 2022 she designed the Charity Heart pendant, which supports Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in America.
Beyond supporting the community and the natural diamond industry, the two women just clicked. “We both share a love for POP, glamour, and whimsy,” Longshore said. “So many things – jewelry, art, fashion, caviar, and of course champagne,” Godfrey added. When working on this cocktail ring together, Longshore said, “I am a huge fan of Lauren and have been a collector of her gorgeous baubles for years,” she explained.

To commemorate the launch, Godfrey and Longshore hosted an evening full of champagne and caviar from The Caviar Company for guests to enjoy while they perused the gallery and saw the natural diamond beauty in action. Of course, Godfrey and Longshore were dressed to the nines, decked out in sequins, ruffles, and tons of glitzy natural diamonds.
“I had been dreaming of a jewelry collaboration with Ashley from the first time I met her and saw how she loves and wears the pieces she collects. A cocktail ring in honor of our favorite bubbly beverage just felt right,” Harwell said. Longshore added, “My collectors are going to LOVE this – I love this!”
