You can count on Lizzo to bring fun and glamour to everything she does, and her stint as both host and musical act on the April 16th episode of Saturday Night Live was no exception. The multi-talented entertainer and entrepreneur brought nonstop energy to the SNL stage with her hilarious skits and live performances of her new songs “Special” and “About Damn Time,” but not before opening the show wearing natural diamond jewelry by Made By Malyia designer and Emerging Designers Diamond Initiative participant Malyia McNaughton.

Lizzo worked with celebrity stylist Jason Rembert for her historic SNL episode, and her signature bold and colorful style was present every step of the way. In a teaser for the episode, Lizzo can be seen wearing Made By Malyia’s Dancing Wave Twist Hoops—earrings inspired by waves crashing in the ocean—that are set in 18 karat white gold and feature 8.33 carats of baguette natural diamonds. For Lizzo’s opening monologue, the star paired the hoops with a look from Oscar de la Renta, including an eye-catching blue metallic fringe coat from the Fall 2022 collection.

“When Lizzo first appeared on my TV screen, I hopped off my couch when I caught the first glimpse of the Dancing Wave Twist Hoops sparkling as they caught the stage lights,” Malyia told Only Natural Diamonds about the moment she saw Lizzo wearing her design. “I dreamed that the earrings would land on someone like Lizzo one day, but you just never know when. SNL is historic and Lizzo is iconic, and I’m so honored and thankful to be a part of this. Jason Rembert is such a phenomenal stylist and I’m forever grateful for him for this moment,” she added.

Malyia is among the jewelry designers selected for the inaugural Emerging Designers Diamond Initiative, a joint effort between the Natural Diamond Council and Lorraine Schwartz created to provide Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) fine jewelry designers looking to incorporate natural diamonds into their original pieces with unprecedented access to resources, mentorship, media opportunities and guidance as they grow their businesses. Diamond jewelry from Made By Malyia, including the Dancing Wave Twist Hoop earrings, can also be seen on actress and Global Ambassador for Only Natural Diamonds Ana de Armas in the “For Moments Like No Other” global campaign.

The Dancing Wave Twist Hoop earrings are available online and in-store at Greenwich St. Jewelers and at select official retail partners.
