The Unparalleled Power of Indian Diamond Craft

Carving out India’s legacy with hundreds of years of revolutionary tradition – Indian diamond craftsmen are the creators of a New Bharat.

From a small community of artisans, to a world dominating industry – this natural diamond is a testament to the Indian power of craft.

Their mission is to take the raw, and make it radiant, to look at a rough stone, and carve out a piece of art. Their mission is rooted in tradition, and comes alive through the power of transformation. Their mission is one that is not created, but one that creates.

In the early 1900s, Surat found itself transforming. It grew from a small community of diamond craftsmen, to a cutting-edge industry that put India on the map. This industry would grow to dominate over 90% of the world’s supply in polished diamonds. Today, it plays a major part in India’s ever enduring vision for the future.

The Navbharat Ratna celebrates India’s vision for a brilliant future, propelled by its pioneering diamond industry.

The facets and features of this stone took over 35,000 minutes of dedication, planning, and seamless processing in Shri Ramkrishna Exports’ (SRK) net-zero facility. The diamond’s outline alone took industry veteran Rajeshbhai Kachadiya over forty hours to perfect, while crafter Vishalbhai Italiya spent over twenty hours polishing the girdle.

With the Navbharat Ratna, leading diamantaire SRK celebrated the skill, raw passion and transformative power of the diamond craftsmen in India, and their ever evolving legacy. The one-of-a-kind diamond was recently presented to the Hon. Prime Minister of India by Shri Govind Dholakia,  founder of Shree Ramkrishna Exports.
